In One Dream

With the first breath I took today

I called my name

To wake myself from one dream

only to enter another

In one dream

I stir the ashes of a once bright fire

with hopes of warmth and light but

find only scars and burns

In one dream

I see a road that never ends

and transforms with every step

its destination my imagination

In one dream

I find home where my heart is

finding comfort in its solitary strength and purpose

even when I wish that it would stop

In one dream

I laugh with eyes wide open

and shine like a distant star

the twinkling of inferno
